Weight Loss - What to expect

The problem often faced with weight loss is that we think weight is the problem, when it's not.

Look in the mirror and we feel unhappy with what we see, step on the scales and we feel unhappy about being over our BMI.

We go on diets, we count calories, we give up, we go round and round in circles.

This is how many people try to stay healthy, but it's more complicated than that.

Pure suggestion such as the hypnogastric band are dubious and I have experimented on friends and volunteers with many of these fads, just to see what the outcome is and I have been unconvinced. Using the idea that by lowering anxiety we gain control makes much more sense and it's what worked for me when I was training and lost 2 stone. I was more relaxed, didn't feel so hungry and started to eat less and be more choosy in what I did eat. I also was much more mindful as to how much exercise to do.

Primarily we need to establish exactly how much you are eating. If you're used to diet regimes, this should be familiar.

Once we have it in black and white, and exactly how much you weigh and your measurements we have the foundations to build upon.

We look at your exercise regime, exactly what you can do. Where so many people fall down is that they think exercise has to going to the gym, or really energetic but it could just involve adding it in to your daily routine.

We look at your eating habits, where you can improve. If you binge, we use a diary to look at your daily routine to see when your trigger points are. Many eating disorders start when the person wants to control an area of their life. Sometimes they feel they do not have control in many other areas, so food becomes the focus. Focusing on eating to make us feel better is unhelpful, as is alcohol or drugs. Cream buns have the same impact as cocaine.

You'll learn self hypnosis for weight loss and get reading material to help you help yourself, so once you learn you can do it for yourself.

We are looking at losing 2lb per week. To start with you are looking at a session for the first 5 or 6 weeks. Once one gets used to the regime it's then spread further and further a part. To lose a stone we're looking at 8 weeks, which is achievable.
